Active Mysteries
These are the questions that currently have enough evidence to chase.
They are written as player-facing leads, not GM answers.
F14 And The 13th Door
F14 is missing, but HEC said she is safe for now. HEP confirmed that F14 brought him a hinge from the 13th Door and that he forged the sisters' masks from it.
Known Signals
- F14 warned the sisters to listen together.
- F14 warned them against urgency, easy roads, and anyone who needs them separated.
- HEP said F14 brought him a hinge from the 13th Door.
- HEP made masks from that hinge.
- The phrase and pressure of the 13th Door keep appearing around old route systems.
Good Next Moves
- Treat the masks as a reading tool, not a solved answer.
- Keep asking what someone gains if the sisters are separated.
- Watch for anything that looks like a road, door, route, invitation, or shortcut.
Susul's Ferry-Dock Concert
The sisters missed Susul's unusual ferry-dock concert while recovering at the Moth-Hearth. Afterward, Briar listened to a recording with the Bone Lantern and strongly suspected the performer was not the real Susul.
After Session Four, the problem became sharper: Morrow Thistle's crows saw two Susul-like figures. One is at the Glass Briar. One is at Susul's mountain home.
Known Signals
- The ferry-dock location was unusual.
- Surprisingly few Fractal Friends were present.
- The recording felt wrong under Briar's read.
- The suspicion is strong, but not yet a complete public reveal.
- Morrow saw only one Fractal Friend monkey at the ferry-dock performance, and it was blue.
- There may now be two Susul-like figures active at once.
Good Next Moves
- Investigate the Susul-like figure at the Glass Briar.
- Decide when to check Susul's mountain home.
- Ask why the Fractal Friends were scarce.
- Compare this recording to the earlier market green performance.
Old Lion Road Script
Old Lion Road Script has moved from background mystery to usable clue system.
Tessel can write it because F14 taught her, but she cannot read it. The masks let the sisters read it, but do not teach them to write it.
Known Signals
- Tessel's notebook contains Old Lion Road Script.
- The Shrine machinery had unreadable script before the masks.
- The Lesson Cellar carried writing like Tessel's.
- The sisters' copied schoolhouse marks translated badly because the copy was bad.
- Session Four inscriptions warned not to call Tessel a key and not to follow any road, door, or voice that asks for one sister alone.
- The Lesson Cellar gave a route order:
School, well, shrine, home.
Good Next Moves
- Bring the masks to original writing whenever possible.
- Ask Tessel for fresh writing instead of relying on memory or copies.
- Revisit the Lesson Cellar or Shrine if the sisters want exact text.
- Treat Tessel as a person with wants, not as a mechanism.
Godnamed Intelligences
HEC and HEP are not ordinary machines, spirits, or village magic. HEP spoke of Circe as a sibling or sibling-like counterpart.
Known Signals
- HEC carries routes, context, and records around F14.
- HEP is a forge-being tied to old hidden routes beneath Bellharrow.
- HEP used sibling language for Circe.
- HEP did not want to flood the sisters with the full answer yet.
Good Next Moves
- Ask what HEC, HEP, and Circe each seem built to preserve, repair, move, or protect.
- Notice when a named intelligence refuses to answer and why.
- Treat direct help from them as meaningful, rare, and costly.
Bellharrow's Hidden Routes
Bellharrow looks like a village, but several ordinary places now have old systems below them.
Known Signals
- The Bell Well hides a door and listening machinery.
- The Shrine of Returning Light hides terminals, root-like wires, maps, a telescope, and a black lens.
- The Crooked Schoolhouse hides the Lesson Cellar.
- HEP's forge can be reached through route-space rather than ordinary stairs.
- The Bell Well is full of water again.
- The Shrine telescope is labeled
Hollow Sun Observatory. - The black glass eye / moonlight room is labeled
Entryway 24.
Good Next Moves
- Build a mental map of above-ground places and below-ground systems.
- Ask which parts of Bellharrow are old, which are maintained, and which are waking up.
- Revisit locations with a specific question rather than wandering blind.
- Notice when the route asks for both sisters rather than one.
